To say that Hoyt was excited to turn five is an understatement. I think he started asking me about his birthday the first of June, and didn't stop until it was finally here! He decided that he wanted to have a few friends go with him to the bounce house, then come back home for pizza, cake and ice cream and presents.....so that's what we did!
He started off his day with his favorite breakfast of waffles with cream. Then he went outside to play with Jett and ride his new bike, before getting ready to go and pick up his friends for the bounce house. Grandma and grandpa Murray brought Markus and Landon, and then we went to pick up the rest of his buddies. The boys loved the bounce house (as usual) but after 2 1/2 hours they were ready to head home for pizza and cake. Hoyt had asked for a Spiderman cake, so I did my best to try and give him one - even though it didn't turn out all that great, Hoyt thought it was pretty cool! Overall, I think he had the perfect day! Happy 5th Birthday Buddy!!
At five Hoyt loves:
Doing anything with dad - hunting coyotes, shooting birds, working...you name it
Riding his bike
Working outside in the yard with mom. He can hardly wait until he is old enough to mow....and neither can I!!
Going to school. He was a little bummed to not start kindergarten this year, but he is really looking forward to his new preschool teacher and class
To help me bake anything; cookies, cakes, etc.
Being a big brother
Star Wars (to Ryon's dismay), playing PBS kids and Disney Jr. games on the computer, playing football, baseball and basketball (he can't wait to play on the 5-year-old team this winter), and doing anything outside!
Being in his CTR 4 class at church
Hoyt also continues to be our tender hearted child. He has to have a hug and kiss from anyone leaving the house, or he will completely melt down. He cries when sad things happen on movies or when he sees someone who is sad or needs help. He also can't go to sleep until I read him a book and "sing him a lullaby"! Hopefully this won't end soon!!

Scary Hoyt!
We had a ward party a few days ago at the park that was lots of fun. There were games for the kids, a dunk booth, face painting, and tons of good food. Hoyt and Jett had a great time running around with all of the kids, but Hoyt's favorite activity by far was the face painting. The young women in our ward were doing the face painting, and they had pictures of what the kids could get. Hoyt, of course, chose the most intricate design, a skeleton. I have to hand it to him, he sat still for a good 15 minutes having his face painted. I was just happy it washed off easily that night!!

Typical Morning
A typical morning at the Murray home consists of two little boys with their blankies, sitting in front of the couch with two little bowls of cold cereal, watching Mickey Mouse. Jett has finally starting watching some TV and Mickey Mouse is his favorite! He must ask me at least 50 times a day if he can watch "Minna". While Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is no longer Hoyt's favorite show, and sometimes he complains that he has to watch it with Jett, I like to remind him that when he was Jett's age he was addicted to Mickey Mouse as well!!

Jett - 20 months
I neglected to do an 18-month post about this little boy, so I thought I would do an update at 20 months. Jett continues to be quite a character! He thinks he is at least as old as Hoyt and wants to do everything that Hoyt does. He is definitely all boy and loves guns, trucks, choo-choo trains, horses, etc. He loves Annie, and just like Hoyt did at this age, calls every horse he sees "Anna".
Jett loves to read books and is also still a cuddler. He loves me to rock him before his nap time and bedtime and will still bury his head in my shoulder and go to sleep. He is VERY ticklish, and we have a great time tickling him and listening to him laugh and laugh. One of his favorite things to do is take a bath and when he has to get out he'll cry because he wants to stay in and play. He and Hoyt have started to play pretty well together and I love it when they head down to the basement to play and are down there for an hour! I could go on and on about this little boy, he is truly a little light in our home.

New Bike
Ryon and I had been looking all summer for a new bike for Hoyt's birthday. I found one I liked the beginning of August and we just couldn't wait to give it to him....so he got it a few weeks early. He had completely outgrown his smaller bike, and this new one gives him a little room to grow. He was so excited when he saw it; he hopped right on and started riding it all along the driveway.
He also needs a new helmet, but I'm going to have to take him with me to buy that. The kid has the biggest head! So, in the meantime he is using Ryon's old dirt bike helmet. He thinks he is pretty cool!!

Home Sweet Home
We made it back home to lots of work. I needed to get the yards back in shape after having been gone for almost three weeks, and the boys had fun being outside with me. One of Jett's favorite things to do these days is to have Hoyt drive him around in the Jeep. I took these pictures the other day - the boys look a little rough, but we were just working outside so I guess it's OK!
