Archeologist Hoyt

Hoyt got a dinosaur fossil kit for Christmas and he couldn't wait to "break it out" and start hammering away.  He spent the better part of the afternoon hammering his fossils out of the stone block they were encased in.  After he extracted all of the fossils he was able to put together a T-Rex - seriously awesome!

Jett is 3!

This happy, funny, handsome, slightly crazy boy turned 3 today.  It's hard to believe that he has been in our family three years already.  He is my cuddly boy, who would still have me rock him to sleep every night if I could.  He is a great big brother and brings so much love and laughter into our home.  Happy...Happy Birthday Jetty Bug!

Here are some fun facts about Jett as he turns three years old:

  • He loves to be outside, and would rather be digging in the dirt than doing pretty much anything else.
  • He loves trucks, tractors and driving around in his Jeep
  • He wants to play "chopping silage" with his dad any chance he gets
  • He loves to play with Sam, Cambry, Mailee, and his cousin Ava.  He and Ava are either the best of friends or the worst of enemies depending on the hour!
  • He has learned to love bowling from Hoyt and asks every week if we can do it for family home evening
  • He loves the alphabet and can recognize all of the letters without any help.  Most days he will do his "letters" on his leapfrog before he goes to bed
  • He also loves counting and can count to 20....almost without error
  • He is certainly a momma's boy and wants to hold my hand everywhere we go, but especially up our stairs

Christmas 2013 - Part III

Christmas evening, grandma and grandpa Murray and Markus came over for dinner and to open a few more presents.  (I'm certain these boys did not need any more presents!)  However, the BYU chairs for the basement were a huge hit and I'm sure we'll be using them for years to come!  Christmas 2013 was sure a HIT!!

Christmas 2013 - Part II

The best present, by far, was saved for last.  Ryon brought in a big box after the boys had opened all of their presents and there was a dog inside.  The boys were beside themselves!  The story behind how we got the dog (which was supposed to be a lab and turned out to be a Chihuahua) is long and pretty funny.  I will definitely add this later.  The boys, however, were thrilled with this little dog that they promptly named "Chewey".

Christmas 2013 - Part 1

I was so very grateful that I was not sick this Christmas.  I kept thinking back to last year when I could hardly get off the couch, and I was just so happy that I felt well this year.  The boys were beyond excited to come down and see what Santa had left them in their stockings, and then we got right to opening the presents under the tree.  The boys were not disappointed with all their gifts, and as soon as everything was opened the playing commenced!  Stacia was such a good girl with all the hoopla and loved sitting in her bouncy seat while watching all the action.  (Next year she'll really enjoy opening presents - this year she could have cared less!)

Christmas Eve Nativity

The Lambert's invited us over on Christmas Eve to do a live nativity and have some treats.  The boys were super excited to dress up in their shepherd/Joseph costumes!  Hoyt was Joseph, Lea was Mary and Jett was a shepherd; it was so much fun and everyone had a great time.  We just might have to make this a yearly tradition!!

Ward Christmas Breakfast

Our annual ward Christmas breakfast never disappoints.  There is always great food, great company, and Santa Claus.  The boys had a great time sitting on Santa's lap and letting him know that they had been good all year (really?), and they told him exactly what they wanted for Christmas.  We were even able to get a family shot with the big guy, which I was pretty happy about.

When we got home from the breakfast, Hoyt made sure to take me aside and let me know that he and his friend Lea had seen Santa getting into a "truck after the party".  He said, "Mom, that definitely wasn't the real Santa Claus.  He just got into a truck and drove off!  I guess it must have been one of the helper Santa's because the real Santa is just too busy to come to all the ward parties."  I don't know what I'll do when I don't have little ones at Christmas - they make it so much fun!

Winter is Here!

Everyone at our house is so excited that winter is finally here and just in time for Christmas!  We didn't get lots of snow, but we got a little and it sure is COLD!!  I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of the ice covered trees in our backyard.

Kindergarten Christmas Concert

Hoy's kindergarten class put on a Christmas concert and it was pretty great!  They sang lots of songs, each had a speaking part, and I must say that Hoyt was quite the performer.  He got to stand by two of his great friends (Natalie and Wyatt), and three of them were serious entertainment.  We can't believe that half of the school year has flown by and that soon we'll have a 1st grade boy on our hands!

Quick Trip to Reno

Ryon, Stacia and I took a quick trip to Reno for a conference that Ryon needed to attend.  It was nice to get away, just the three of us.  In fact I think on the drive to Reno, Ryon and I had more time to talk than we have in at least a year!  It was a short trip, but was so much fun to see some wonderful friends and spend some quality time with Ryon.  (Stacia was also the best little traveler!)
