Spring Break

Our Spring Break from preschool fell the last week of March.  Unfortunately, it wasn't the warmest of weeks and we weren't able to spend much time outside.  We made the most of it, however, with lots of playing inside, making cookies (Rolo cookies with white chocolate drizzle!), watching movies, and a trip to the YMCA pool.

Hoyt had been begging me for weeks to take him swimming at the pool inside the big "bubble".  The YMCA has a large public pool in Twin Falls, and in the winter they inclose it in a large white tent.  Hoyt wanted so badly to go and swim, so one afternoon when Ryon was home to watch Jett, Hoyt and I went swimming.  When we first arrived at the pool we did some swim practice, but then Hoyt made friends with some kids and decided that playing pool football was better than swimming with me!  It was the highlight of his Spring Break for sure!

Hoyt and Jett are starting to play pretty well together - on this day they were farmers planting their crops!

Cookie making day - I love this picture of Hoyt!

I have to say that I'm pretty proud of the way the cookies turned out....lovely!

The pool pictures aren't the greatest, but I had to document the fun he had.  His eyes are just a little red!

He is swimming pretty well these days.  I think after another summer of swim lessons, and a few weeks in California at grandma and grandpa Hoyt's pool, we'll have it down!

I Like to Look...

for rainbows whenever there is rain!  A few nights ago I looked out the back windows and saw the most beautiful rainbows coming out of the canyon.  Hoyt and I ran outside and saw two rainbows that started in the canyon and went all the way over to the barn.  They were pretty amazing!

After we had taken a few pictures and were back inside Hoyt said, "Mom, we need to go over to the barn and dig for the gold."  When I asked him why we needed to do this, he replied "that's where the rainbow ends, so there has to be a pot of gold hidden somewhere at the barn!"  (He's definitely his dad's boy - always looking to make a little money!!)

In this picture you can see the two rainbows coming out of the canyon...

Rainy Day Basketball

Today was a rainy, windy day and by 4:00 Hoyt was begging to go and play basketball at the church.  He has  been playing basketball every day lately, due to the fact that March Madness has been all that Ryon has been watching on TV!  We took the entire family - Hoyt loved playing basketball and Jett loved running around the cultural hall.  By the time we got home and had dinner everyone was tired and ready for bed....I think we should go play basketball at the church more often!

Hoyt using the "one arm approach" to shooting in the big hoop!

We had to bring the small hoop from home so Hoyt could "dunk it"

Nice form!

This happy boy had to get in on the action....

he loves to try and make baskets too!

Caught!

I was busy getting ready for church on Sunday morning when I realized that I hadn't heard anything from Jett in a few (or maybe more than a few) minutes, which is never a good thing! I started looking throughout the house and found him sitting quietly on the floor of the pantry. He had managed to get a package of Gerber Sweet Potato Puffs off of a fairly high shelf and was enjoying a little snack. You could tell that he was proud of his accomplishment!

Ready...Set...Slide

Jett isn't looking all that excited to be at the top of the slide, but he actually ended up enjoying it. Everyday Hoyt asks me when it is going to be spring - I think he is ready to get outside in some warm weather and PLAY! We finally had a few warm days this past week, so playing outside on the swing set, riding bikes, and running around the yard were all things on our "to do" list! Bring on the sunshine!!

Hoyt is excited...Jett not so much!

Here we go...

Trend?

I don't know about anyone else, but I think I'm beginning to notice a trend here. Camo...hunting...guns...ammo...coyotes...rock chucks...oh I could go on and on. Ryon and Hoyt decided to go out and do a little "target practice" in the back yard on Saturday; I do believe Hoyt is just a little obsessed!

Sunday in Pocatello

The Sunday of our visit to Pocatello was Brooklin's blessing. I have to admit that it was a crazy day, and I wasn't able to get many pictures! We all went to church with Kyle and Noelle's family and then had a great luncheon afterwards. The "little ones" (Ava and Jett) napped through the entire luncheon, but Hoyt and Landon had lots of fun running around with all the cousins from Kyle's family. It was definitely a fun-filled, crazy weekend!!

Hoyt, Jett and Markus ready for church

I didn't get a picture of Brooklin in her blessing dress (Noelle didn't leave it on very long)! I did, however, get this picture at the luncheon.

Ava feeding Jett a fishy cracker - these two are pretty funny!

Once we got back to our house on Sunday night - these two were back at playing Star Wars. Hoyt went through serious withdrawal when everyone left on Monday morning!

Visitors!

This past weekend we were lucky enough to have grandma and grandpa Hoyt, Caleb, Isaiah and Marissa come to visit. They drove to Twin Falls on Tuesday and stayed with us for a few days, and then we all made the trip to Pocatello on Friday so we could spend some time with Noelle's family and attend Brooklin's blessing.

The day after they arrived in Twin Falls we had a little "mini blizzard". The wind was blowing snow everywhere and we had white-out conditions for just a bit. Although the storm didn't produce much snow, Isaiah and Hoyt loved it. There was just enough of the white stuff to play some great snow football, and get really...really cold! While the whole gang was in Twin Falls we did a little shopping, looked at a few houses, played at Jump To It, and went out to lunch. How we wished everyone just lived a little closer!

and swinging in the snow

Jett enjoying himself at Arctic Circle

The three amigos - they are really going to miss Caleb when he leaves on his mission in April!

When Hoyt and Isaiah were at home, this is what they looked like at all times...

When we made it over to Pocatello, Landon was more than happy to join in the Star Wars games!

Jett was happy running around with the big boys and "fighting" with Ava

Friday night we went out to dinner (Ryon was with us, but he took the picture)

Hunters

Hoyt pulled me into his room the other day to show me that he and Jett were going hunting. He had put on some of his camo and had put Jett in his camo jacket as well - he also made sure that they both had guns. Jett couldn't have been more happy to be "hunting" with Hoyt. They walked around the house looking for coyotes and shooting their guns. It was a pretty good way to spend a cold, dreary afternoon!
