Hoyt is taking some one-on-one swimming lessons this year; the goal being water safety and what to do if he finds himself "in trouble" in the water. It's not a mommy and me class so I don't get in the water with him. I stand on the side and cheer him on, but that has been little comfort for a scared boy who is having to learn a lot of new things.
The first day of lessons he started crying (screaming might be a better word) when he had to float on his back and swim on his tummy to grab the bar at the side of the pool. When he came up for air he yelled to me, "Rescue me mom....rescue me!"
He has since gotten used to things, in fact during week two of lessons there were two days when he didn't cry at all. I thought we had made a breakthrough, but the next day he cried again! Oh well, he's learning and that's all that matters.
